1. Introduction
Thank you for using Yalog (the “App”). Yalog is developed by San Carlos Studio (“we,” “our,” or “us”) to record how seeds grow into plants. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your data.
In short: the App has no account, no server, and needs no internet connection. Everything you record stays on your device. We cannot see it and never receive it.
2. Data the App Handles
The following data is entered or captured by you in the App and is stored only on your device. It is never sent to us or to any third party.
- Plants: name, planting date, and optional details such as seed source, pot, soil and spot.
- Daily logs and care logs: photos, height, leaf count, notes, and records of watering, feeding, repotting, pruning and pest treatment.
- Photos: photos you take with the camera or pick from your photo library are copied into the App’s storage. Originals in your photo library are never changed or deleted.
- Location (optional): only when you tap “Use current location” does the App ask your device for its location once. It is rounded to about 1 km before being saved with a plant or as your Home location. The App never tracks your location in the background or records where you go.
- Preferences: theme, font, language and units.
3. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect any personal information, including but not limited to:
- Personal identification information such as name, email address or phone number (the App has no account or sign-in)
- Your plants, logs, photos or location
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Usage patterns, analytics or crash reports
The App contains no ads and uses no analytics or tracking services.
4. Device Permissions
The App asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can say no and the rest of the App keeps working. Which permissions are requested depends on your device:
- Camera: to take photos of your plants. (On Android the App opens the system camera and does not request the camera permission.)
- Photos: to pick plant photos from your library. (On Android the App uses the system picker, requests no permission, and only receives the photo you choose.)
- Approximate location: to get your location once when you tap “Use current location.” On Android the App requests approximate location only, never precise location.
You can turn these permissions off at any time in your device settings.
5. Third-Party Services
The App does not exchange data with any third-party service. The following system features are provided by your device and are governed by their own privacy policies:
- Location services: your location is determined by your device’s operating system (on Android this may use Google Play services; on iOS, Apple Location Services). Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Apple Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Camera and photo library: photos are obtained through your device’s own camera and photo picker.
- App stores: when you download the App from Google Play or the App Store, any related data is handled by Google or Apple. We do not receive it.
6. Data Storage and Retention
- All data stays on your device until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App.
- Deleting a plant in the App also deletes all of its logs and photos. This cannot be undone.
- The App currently has no export or cloud backup. The Android version opts out of Android’s automatic backup, so uninstalling the App, clearing its data, or switching to a new phone erases everything.
- If you back up your whole device (for example an iPhone iCloud or computer backup), that backup may include the App’s data. Such backups are handled by Apple or other providers under their own policies, and we cannot access them.
7. Data Security
Your data is never transmitted over the internet or stored on our servers. Its security depends mainly on your device, so we recommend using a screen lock and keeping your device’s software up to date.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is designed for parents and children to record plants together. It is meant to be downloaded and managed by a parent or guardian; children can join in taking photos and logging under a parent’s supervision.
We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Photos you take may include your children. Those photos stay on your device and we never receive them.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the Taiwan Personal Data Protection Act, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct or delete your personal data.
Because we hold none of your data, you can view, change or delete everything directly in the App, or remove all of it by uninstalling the App. If you have any questions, please contact us using the information in Section 11.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add a feature that uses the internet. If the way the App handles data changes materially, we will update this policy before the new feature is turned on and change the “Last Updated” date. Please review it periodically.
